The Infernal Serpent

A race of winged immortals from a homeworld now forgotten and destroyed. Though the people themselves remember this home, most consider the jungle world they now inhabit on the fringes of the galaxy their home. The whole race is force attuned to the point that they can disappear into the energy when they wish to remain unseen. They don't know they are in line with the Force and just consider it innate magical abilities or specialties in their environment.

Lucifer is known to collect information and rare plants and animals. Though he hates slavery, he will buy slaves and give them freedom within his own domain. Some earn complete freedom if they are integrated into the tribe and take oaths to never reveal what is within the palace. Severe punishment comes to those who disobey. Murder and assassination are both distasteful though he will employ fear tactics and occasionally torture if the threats to his people are serious.

Known for his honesty and fairness he's also shunned for being aloof, mysterious and unpredictable. A rumor abounds that he burned someone alive with his bare hands. (The truth is he caught an assassin attempting to kill one of his guests and did burn them alive) Hospitality and respect are a must. Announcements of intent to arrive and leave are the protocol and it is widely known anyone unannounced is considered hostile, even if they are a known individual. During a visit to his palace respect is offered in the form of food and drink as well as lodgings and entertainment for the day or night if travel has been long.

A collector of rare and exotic plants and animals, Lucifer does not maintain them as trinkets as many others of his profession do. Instead he breeds and cares for the species, providing for their needs and personally training them. It is rumored even the most vicious animals become tractable in his presence with deadly beasts showing affection and devotion to him. His nature as a caretaker of animals have led peoples from dying or war torn worlds to bring species to him both for monetary gain and to protect them from loss. Some species now found on the planet exist nowhere else.

An information collector, when Lucifer is not employing interests to expand his menagerie, he is gathering intel; sometimes on request and others for his own, unknown purposes. He follows Jedi and Sith activities closely as both parties have tried to coerce or force his people to side with them or offer themselves up for testing in temples. Though he will behave neutrally in their presence he distrusts both factions and suspects they have ill will toward his people. Oppressive governments and regimes are also on his radar and he uses his network of return employees to track these people.

One landing pad exists on the planet which has no other civilization building races though there are sentient animals both native and acquired. The only way to reach the palace from the landing pad is to walk on foot through the jungle. Without an escort from the palace the path is nearly unpassable due to the way Lucifer has cultivated hostile life in the space. Encouraging dangerous native animals, and poisonous plants to colonize in the areas for miles around the palace. This is augmented by trained beasts he has procured from those who have brought them for sale. If one manages to pass these dangers then the palace guards and the nature of the building itself block passage.

The palace is carved from a single large area of stone without seams and set with two sides being sheer cliffs, one side bearing a single set of steep steps carved into the face and the other being a waterfall face. The palace is nearly invisible as the jungle is allowed to grow right up to the walls, vines and other life draping from it.

The central courtyard of the building serves as the throne room and meeting space. This is open to the jungle above and contains a hot spring as well as seating. This is where business and meetings are conducted. Mazes of halls branch off of it to apartments for guests, living quarters for his people and other rooms as needed. It is assumed that the palace goes far back into the stone cliffs behind the waterfall but few have been allowed to see the palace and none are willing to reveal its secrets.
