Lucifer sent a text late in the night, deciding things needed to proceed now, or they may never have a chance. Heaven was cracking, the first hairlines that would bring the end in one way or another. It might be centuries or eons, but the warfare would start soon.

I will come by tomorrow morning for our exchange. I do not think I can wait for my side of the bargain. I trust you to fulfill your portion of the deal as time permits.

Lucifer set his phone aside and went out into the gardens. What he would do tomorrow was unnerving, a thing he kept hidden closest to himself, but at the same time it would be a good thing to have someone understand. An outsider was the only one he could speak to because of the cost, the weakness it showed. It was the last string of control God had over the seraphim and one he could not ignore.

He spent all night in the garden until the sky began to lighten with the first rays of the Sun. It wasn't his sun. Lucifer turned away from the light. The path he would start to tread after the end of the day would guarantee either his death or a life under the sun he created from his own essence. It was a choice he knew would come. He walked out into the main street calling out to something still part of him, a thing like his children, created from him during the fall.

Glistening gold shone in the sunlight as his chariot reacted to the light and presence of its lord. Two steeds, in form close to horses with wings, pulled the chariot to his side. They were made of fire and light as their master, divine and intelligent. His hands ran lovingly through the fire that created the sides of their necks. Like the form they took, heads tossed and they pawed at the ground.

“Yes, we are going for a ride. Long have I neglected you with no need for your companionship. Come. We have a visitor to bring home.” Lucifer patted their fiery flanks then climbed up into his war chariot. He brought the horses to a trot, flaming hooves sizzled against the ground leaving a path of black hoof marks across the plaza as he headed toward the townhouse. Lucifer sent a text in route to warn Dorian he would arrive soon and to expect something unlike he had ever seen before.

He slowed the horses outside Dorian's home. They pranced impatiently as they waited. His steeds were created for movement and war, never meant to stay still. Lucifer shifted his appearance too; the silver and gold Greek armor of his kingship, red silk beneath and even redder caplet hanging below his wings. The color flushed his wings to his sunset brilliance. Normally he would not walk as king but where they were going the flash and pride might be all that would keep them safe.. there he waited, standing erect in the chariot with horses impatient to leave.
